2020 has been an extremely difficult year for business. No matter what
products you offer, chances are you’ve been impacted in some way or another
by the coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic. Even if you’ve been selling
essential goods that people need to buy, you may still be struggling. After
all, businesses have collapsed, people are experiencing joblessness and
people are consequently a lot more careful with how they spend their
money-saving as much as possible in case of hard times. But the good news is
that there is still potential for your business to survive and generate a
profit during these trying times. If you run an online business, you may
have had an easier time than brick and mortar stores - which have seen
intervals of having to close and suspend operations - but you are still
going to have to put a little extra effort into keeping afloat. Here are a
few steps you can take to help yourself along the way!
Focus On Your Website
First, you need to make sure that your website is up to scratch. Chances are
you’ve put a fair amount of time and effort on this anyway if your business
is entirely online, but it’s always worth checking your website over and
determining whether there are any areas that need to be improved upon. If
there are, make sure to reach out to a quality web designer, who will be
able to ensure that your site looks great and functions well. Studies have
shown that people tend to decide within a matter of seconds whether they’re
going to stay on a site or click the exit tab, so this really isn’t an area
you can put on the backburner. If you want to go all out, you may also want
to collaborate with a user experience or “UX” designer. They’ll make
sure that customers can definitely use and navigate your site with ease.
This can maximise sales, which is essential right now.
Focus on Marketing
Sure, businesses are looking for ways to save money. But don’t skimp out on
marketing. You need to put extra effort into marketing right now to
encourage customers to part with their cash. There are countless things you
can do. You can focus on email marketing. You can focus on sales and
promotions. You can focus on customer engagement and providing valuable
content. So, make sure to keep on top of your marketing and keep your
marketing department on board. Alternatively, you can outsource to third
parties dealing with specialist marketing, such as car dealership marketing.
Focus on Product Photography
If your customers are shopping online, they’re going to be heavily dependent
on your product photography. Quality photos make more sales, as customers
are able to see exactly what they’re buying and are more likely to willingly
hand their money over if they can see that what you’re offering is quality.
These are just a few areas of focus for now. Each is extremely important, so
make sure to add it to your operations and to-do list!
